Jill Howieson, PhD (Law), LLB (Hons), BA (Hons) (Psych), BA (English) is a Professor in the Law School at the University of Western Australia. She is an inaugural board member of the National Mediator Standards Board, a Nationally Accredited Mediator (AMDRAS), and Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP).
Jill is currently the Director of the UWA Mediation Clinic and coordinator of the Negotiation and Mediation, and Dispute Resolution courses in the School.
Jill is the co-author of Negotiation: strategy style skills (LexisNexis, 2015) and practices, researchers and trains in negotiation, mediation and stakeholder facilitation. Jill has trained, coached and consulted for a variety of entities both nationally and internationally, including the IM4DC negotiation program in Africa, IFC mediation program in Samoa, and in Western Australia for Yamatjii Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation, Relationships Australia, AIFLAM, Department of Child Protection, Legal Aid and more.
Before entering academia, Jill practised law in the dispute resolution team of one of Australia’s top tier international law firms, King & Wood Mallesons. Jill is a nationally accredited mediator who mediates and facilitates negotiations across many domains.
As an academic, Darren has taught and coordinated units at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Schools of Psychology and Public Health at Curtin University. He has also supervised numerous Masters-level Dissertations.
